
WHAT: China's first electronic music festival, the Intro (Ideas Need to Reach Out) 2009, is set to shake Beijing this weekend. The music starts at 1 p.m. on the Main Stage and Welcome Stage, and continues until 11 p.m., after which the party moves until 4 a.m. to a nearby warehouse for Intro By Night. There will also be three films: "Speaking in Code", "Berlin Calling" and "We Call It Techno". In addition there will be dancers, refreshments and shopping outlets.
WHO: Big-name foreign DJs include leading techno turntablist Chris Liebing; Phillip Jung from electronic duo M.A.N.D.Y.; and the Italoboyz, a minimal hi-tech funk duo; plus Japan's Shin Nishimura. Acupuncture DJs include Weng Weng, Elvis. T, Xiao Linfeng, Terry Tu and Pancake Lee. Other local legends include White Rabbit's Yang Bing, Internet radio station star Dave K and Ou Yang of Yugong Yishan club. Plus Flo Eysler, Patrick Yu and Lupen, Shen Yue, Mike Ross, and Zhiqi, among others.
VJs include Dimitri Decourt, 4youreye, Marula, Double Vie Group and Yang Tao.
